What your child will figure out
- Identify the short hand as the hour hand and the long hand as the minute hand by directly moving each one.
- Set and read o’clock and half-past times, including placing the hour hand between numerals at half past.
- Transfer the two-hand model to a new time that requires changing both the hour and minutes.
- Read and set procedurally generated times while adaptive practice advances from hour marks to any minute.
The levels
- Meet the short hand
Move the short hour hand to 3 and connect its position with three o’clock.
- Minutes make a lap
Move the long minute hand to 12 to make four o’clock.
- Halfway around
Move the minute hand to 6 and observe the hour hand travel between 3 and 4 at half past.
- Use both hands
Transfer the model by setting half past 8 from a different starting hour.
Ready when they are.
