Time Station

Elapsed time is how far a clock moves forward from a start time to an end time; counting on through friendly hour boundaries makes that journey visible and reliable.

What your child will figure out

  • Read an analogue clock to five-minute and then one-minute precision by coordinating the hour and minute hands.
  • Find arrival times after whole-hour, mixed-hour-and-minute, and delay intervals while explaining the clock movement.
  • Find same-hour, across-hour, multi-hour, and across-twelve elapsed times by counting forward through friendly boundaries.
  • Transfer clock strategies to timetable journeys and connection waits, then continue generated practice across eleven adaptive difficulty tiers.

The levels

  1. Match the station clock

Predict a digital ticket, act by setting it to match 7:25, observe both hands align, and explain how the hands encode hour and minutes.

  2. Read the minute marks

Read 4:38 to exact-minute precision by coordinating the small minute marks with the hour hand's position.

  3. Wind the arrival clock

Advance 9:10 by three whole hours, observe that only the hour changes, and explain why arrival is 12:10.

  4. Send the Valley train

Count 1 hour 40 minutes forward from 1:35 and set an arrival time of 3:15.

  5. Cross the town platform

Measure 35 exact minutes within the 5 o'clock hour using a large friendly jump and a small remainder.

  6. Catch the Mountain Local

Find the 45 minutes from 2:35 to 3:20 by counting to 3:00 and then onward, not by subtracting minute digits.

  7. Run the Coast Express

Combine a bridge to the next hour, whole hours, and final minutes to measure a 155-minute journey.

  8. Dispatch the Starlight

Transfer the count-on strategy to a timetable row from 10:25 to 11:40 and justify the 75-minute journey.

  9. Update the delayed train

Treat a delay as forward clock movement and move 6:35 forward 45 minutes to 7:20.

  10. Cross the twelve

Count through 12 o'clock without resetting the elapsed journey and total 95 minutes from 11:35 to 1:10.

  11. Make the Forest connection

Interpret the gap between an arrival and the next departure as a 29-minute transfer window.

  12. Plan the grand express

Transfer every count-on move to an exact-minute, multi-hour timetable journey lasting 231 minutes.

Ready when they are.
