What your child will figure out

• Physically combine two visible groups into one collection.
• Predict a total within 10 before combining the groups.
• Count every object in the combined collection to check the total.
• Transfer putting-together addition from apples to ducks.

The levels

1. Apple tumble

   Put 2 apples and 3 apples together, then count all 5.

2. Guess, then gather

   Predict and check 2 plus 3 by joining the baskets.

3. Big apple basket

   Predict and check 4 plus 5 within 10.

4. Ducks join in

   Transfer the same putting-together idea when 2 ducks join 2 ducks.
